About 1,000 recreational vehicles are expected for the 2014 Winnebago Itasca Travelers (WIT) Club’s Grand National Rally, which got underway today (July 16) and will run through Sunday at the rally grounds across from Winnebago Industries Inc.’s headquarters in Forest City, Iowa.
“We are tracking ahead of last year,” reported Chad Reece, Winnebago’s director of marketing.
According to a report by the Forest City Summit, Reece said those 1,000 expected units have about 2 1/2 to three people inside on average.
“That’s about 3,000 guests, plus the vendors that come, that’s about 3,500 to 3,600 visitors,” Reece said.
Reece said the GNR attendees participate in rally ground activities but also visit local and regional sites. Pre-rally tours take them to various sites such as the John Deere plant near the Quad Cities. The early arrivals and GNR rally day attendees also spend time and money in Forest City and North Iowa, he said.
