When did you make the decision to buy an RV? Was it something new you wanted to try or were you inspired by RV trips from your childhood?
Travel Columnist Jill Schensul of NorthJersey.com arrived at her decision to buy an RV after her forth trip in a rental. She describes the journey in a recent story.
During her ten day RV trip, Shensul met fellow RVers at the gathering of RV enthusiasts known simply as “The Rally” and makes a trip to RV Hall of Fame and Museum in Elkhart, Indiana.
Did you have a memorable trip that hooked you on RVing? Leave us a comment and tell us about it.

My last car+motels+restaurants road trip convinced me to try RVing. RVing lets me road trip all I like while having my bed, kitchen, bathroom, home office, and, most importantly, cats with me. It lets me do all the traveling I want while enabling me to have a home, too.
I decided to buy an RV after a 3 day trip with fellow photographers and after having done the car-motel-restaurants on a 3 week 5 state trip. I love photography and want to go where I want to go without looking for a motel after the sun sets. Now I have all the freedom in the world. I can take off in the middle of the week or on the week-end because I am retired. And most of all when I get hungry I just pull off the highway and make something to eat! Ain't life just peachy!!!!!!!
I decided to rent an rv after driving down to florida from New York with my 3 children. I wanted to try something new, rather than look for hotels and places to eat we can carry all that with us. When the kids say, "Daddy, I have to go to the bathroom", I say , "go ahead", When they say I'm hungry I say, "Open the Fridge". Niether time did we have to stop unless we wanted to(for fuel of course and to change drivers). When we were able to stop at the supermarket the food went from the market to the fridge directly and we drove away. We stayed on Disney property at Fort Wilderness and we had complete access to the whole park.
We love our RV! We got "hooked" when so many other friends were buying them and after having another baby I was not about to tent camp anymore! We are lucky to live in the Northwest with so many great public campgrounds in Washington and Oregon. Best trip so far? Using our RV to camp on the Oregon Coast.
