RVers nationwide use Wal-Mart’s parking lots for handy overnight camping. After loading up on supplies, tired RVers can camp free of charge for the night.
According to Gazette.com in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the town of Monument may restrict overnight camping in retail store parking lots.
Some members of Monument’s board of trustees say that RVs clustered in parking lot are an eyesore. The new rules would not ban RV parking outright, but would restrict RVs to designated areas.
Defenders of RV retail parking counter that there are not enough RV campgrounds in the area and that there have been few, if any, complaints.
Do you use Wal-Mart’s lots for overnight RV parking? What do you think of the board’s criticism? What do you think is the fair solution? Leave a comment below and tell your story.

Rv’s parked in WalMart mean money for Monument! Parking in a designated area would be okay but late at night there sometimes are no spots available in the surrounding campgrounds and I, for one, feel much safer parking at WalMart than in a rest area. I can park and get supplies at the same time and leave early in the morning.
Thanks for your comment! Do any other retail chains let RVs park overnight?
